BRIEF PROFILE OF ONLY AND SURELY ORGANIC AND FOUNDER (NIRMAL VARSHNEY)

I done my B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with honours from State Govt College Lucknow in 2002 and further PGDM in operations from IGNOU with gold medal. After Completion of 15 years of Engineering & Management career with various MNC companies, I decided to quit the engineering job in year 2017 and switch to Agro based cluster development activities majorly in Beekeeping & Honey production and Organic certified Sugarcane farming in Haridwar District of Uttarakhand.

I approached to many farmers & beekeepers who were already engaged in beekeeping activities and some of them were performing natural farming based on bio pesticides and bio fertilizers. These beekeepers scattered in almost all blocks of Haridwar district but Majorly in Narsan, Roorkee, Bhagwanpur and Bahadarabad Block. After association with these beekeepers & organic farmers, I realised many difficulties and drawbacks related to these beekeepers and felt most of them are not happy with current condition of beekeeping profession, lack of scientific beekeeping Training & practice, Govt Support, Right treatment of bees, very low price of honey and unpredicted honey market & its demand.

I could able to find out there is scope of lot of activities on grass hoot level with these honey producers to improve their livelihood, Honey Storage, processing & packaging infrastructure, Developing Rural employment & income and finally Quality of Rural Life with inclusion of low risk in agriculture and beekeeping field. In beginning of 2018, I seriously started thinking on my contribution part in this field and working together with these farmers and beekeepers rather developing Buyer & Seller relationship.

In mid of 2018, I decided working on formation of beekeeping & organic farming based Farmer Producer organization (FPO) and an Agro processing based start up for forward market linkage. So, I formed a Society Devbhoomi Jaivik Krishi Evam Madhumakkhi Palan Sansthan under society act as well as new startup Only and Surely Organic (OSO) Agro products.

Many beekeepers & farmers were contacted and within six months’ time period, Organization would able to associate 100+ beekeepers. By end of 2018, OSO purchased 60000 Sq feet land in Vill Mustafabad Padartha of Tehsil & District of Haridwar to set up Honey Processing & packaging facility. OSO started setting up state of Art Organic Certified Honey Processing & packaging unit in 30,000 Sq ft area on Haridwar-Laksar National Highway (NH 334 A) in year 2019 and started its operation in mid of year 2020. OSO received Organic Certification under NPOP program in Feb 2020, Membership of APEDA & National Bee Board (NBB) in Jan 2021 and ISO 9001, ISO 22000 & HACCP Certification in Oct 2021.

OSO is currently engaged in production & processing, packaging and marketing of Forest based various kind of honey, Desi Cow A2 Ghee & Jaggery based products which are being collected and harvested by associated Beekeeper group Societies and Beekeeper Producer Organizations based out in State of Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh. Under these FPOs/Societies 500+ certified beekeepers are engaged in beekeeping & honey collection activities.
